This prancing hare made from embossed copper sheet with a mother of pearl button detail, beaded tail and brass whiskers jumps through undergrowth of copper and brass wire, handmade porcelain flowers, clusters of beads with a silver plated dragonfly hovering overhead. Then assembled onto a piece of vintage china tea plate. It is coated in crystalline verdigris then mounted and signed on acid free off white card in a cream contemporary style open grain wooden box frame, 230mm x 280mm.
I am so lucky to have these beautiful and enigmatic creatures running through the fields surrounding my cottage. Their histories are steeped in folklore and superstition and I will never tire of using them in my work.
